Smart Home

This collection holds three kinds of product: Wi-Fi security cameras, lights you run from an app, a remote or the sun, and plug-in helpers like the smart plug, the smoke alarm and the pest repellers.

For a security camera, decide where it goes and how it records. The 1080P Outdoor WiFi Camera has a weatherproof build and infrared night vision for a porch, yard or driveway. Indoors, the 2-Way Audio PTZ, the Smart Security PTZ and the Smart Robot camera pan and tilt to cover a whole room, and the Smart Security PTZ and the Smart Robot follow motion on their own. The 2K Light Bulb camera screws into a standard E27 socket and takes its power from it, so you have nothing to wire or recharge. Every camera here has two-way audio and records to a microSD card. Compare them side by side on our WiFi security cameras page.

For lighting, check how you want to control it. The LED Rope Lights, the Hexagon LED Wall Lights and the Permanent Outdoor Lights run from an app and a remote, and the rope lights and hexagon panels pulse in time with music. The Permanent Outdoor Lights carry an IP67 rating for rain, snow and sun. Want light with no outlet? The solar pathway and lily lights charge in the sun and glow from dusk to dawn, the solar motion wall lights and the 348-LED solar light switch on when they sense movement, and the rechargeable closet and night lights come on as you walk past.

Before you buy anything that joins Wi-Fi, check your network. The listings do not state which Wi-Fi band each device uses, and many low-cost cameras and plugs join only a 2.4GHz network, so if pairing stalls on a dual-band router, connect your phone to the 2.4GHz band while you set it up. Looking for action, kids or trail cameras rather than home security? Our cameras collection covers them, including a 4G solar trail camera that watches a property out of Wi-Fi range.
